The Serious Side of Purim: Assimilation, Antisemitism, and Esther

Purim is a Jewish carnival, a holiday for having fun and laughing at ourselves and the world. Yet, the Book of Esther, itself a farce that takes aim at various serious issues that faced the Jews of ancient Persia – and us. We will read key sections of the megillah, and consider the lessons the ancient Persian Jewish community is sharing with us across the centuries.   With Rabbi Edleson.
