People Love Dead Jews Book Discussion

The outstanding Jewish novelist, Dara Horn, finally felt she had to write about some of the subtle ways anti-Semitism shapes our narratives about what it means to be Jewish in America and in the world.  Why is Anne Frank so universally loved?  Did families really have their names changed at Ellis Island?  What do we learn from Schindler’s List being the most popular movie on the Holocaust? Using the book and accompanying podcast Adventures with Dead Jews, as well as podcasts on Jewish identity from the Hartman Institute, we will use Horn’s essays as jumping off points about what it means to be Jewish in America today.
