When I first lived in Jerusalem in the 1980’s, before I knew Hebrew, my favorite place was a used English bookstore called “Sefer ve Sefel,” which is Hebrew for “Book and a Mug.”   We would pick out books, sit and get coffee and ice cream and read for hours with the other “Anglos.”     

This summer,   I am excited to launch our own Sefer vs Sefel Summer Book Groups at Temple Sinai. The discussions will be primarily in person, but you can join by ZOOM, particularly if you are out of town.

CATCH-67   Micah Goodman      This thought-provoking analysis of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by one of Israel’s most innovative and respected thinkers and teachers  (and one of the best teachers I’ve ever studied with) looks at the conflict through the lens of the Six Day War and its aftermath.  Goodman claims that both sides are right and both sides are wrong, making the conflict impossible to solve, but fairly easy to de-escalate.
